Pregnancy comes with many exciting changes—but it can also bring questions, new sensations, and the occasional worry. At Cache Valley Women’s Center in Logan, Utah, our team is here to support you every step of the way. While many symptoms are normal, some require a call to your provider to keep both you and your baby safe.

Below are some of the most common situations when you should reach out to your OBGYN in Logan.

1. You Experience Heavy Bleeding or Severe Cramping

Light spotting can be normal, especially early on. But if you notice heavy bleeding, passing clots, or cramping that feels intense or persistent, it’s important to call your doctor right away. These symptoms may indicate an issue that needs immediate evaluation.

2. You Notice a Decrease in Baby’s Movement

By about 28 weeks, most babies develop a predictable activity pattern. If your baby suddenly becomes much less active or you don’t feel movement during a kick count, contact your provider. A quick check can ensure everything is progressing normally.

3. You Have Signs of Preterm Labor

Call your OBGYN if you experience:

  • Contractions that are regular or increasing in intensity

  • Low back pressure that doesn’t go away

  • Pelvic pressure

  • Fluid leakage

  • A change in vaginal discharge

Your care team can help determine if what you’re feeling is normal or something that needs attention.

4. You Develop Severe Headaches, Vision Changes, or Swelling

These symptoms may point to high blood pressure or preeclampsia, a condition that requires monitoring and treatment. If you experience:

  • Blurry vision

  • Persistent, severe headaches

  • Sudden swelling of your face, hands, or feet
    call your provider promptly.

5. You Have a Fever or Persistent Illness

Colds and minor illnesses can happen, but a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting that won’t stop, dehydration, or respiratory issues warrant a phone call. Your OBGYN can guide you on safe medications and next steps.

6. You Think Your Water Broke

A sudden gush or a constant trickle of fluid may be amniotic fluid. Whether it’s obvious or you’re unsure, your doctor can help determine what’s happening and advise you on when to come in.

7. You Have a Gut Feeling Something Isn’t Right

You know your body better than anyone. If something feels “off,” doesn’t seem normal for your pregnancy, or causes you anxiety, reach out. Your peace of mind matters, and it’s always better to ask.
