As Cache Valley’s trusted Logan, Utah OB/GYN, our focus is on helping patients obtain optimal health, happiness, and well-being. The summer months provide unique opportunities to boost women’s health physically, mentally, and emotionally.

One of the most positive impacts the summer season has on women’s health is more time spent being active outdoors. Soaking up the sun is an excellent source of vitamin D and can help with bone health, manage infections, and reduce inflammation. Fresh air and increased physical activity can also have a positive impact on women’s health.

Warmer months absolutely make it easier to get more exercise (especially in Logan). As you do spend more time outdoors, try to stay hydrated by drinking between 60-90 ounces of water each day and nourishing your body with a balanced, healthy diet. Enjoy seasonal fruits and vegetables and get adequate protein from sources like yogurt, fish, poultry, nuts, and beans.

Summers in Cache Valley are a dream! Take the opportunity to enjoy nature, sports, outdoor activities, and time with loved ones. It can also be helpful to schedule exercise or outdoor activities in the cooler morning and evening hours to avoid being in the heat of the day during the hottest hours—typically between noon and 3 pm. Also, be mindful to wear sunscreen and reapply it as needed.

Here are some simple ways to get the most out of the summer season and help improve your health in the process.
